The Brief

We are a software development company specializing in advanced touchscreen technology that allow users to control various functions on fitness equipment. We are seeking to create a new workout UI for a Treadmill that incorporates key elements into the design. This UI will serve as a graph to help users better understand and maximize their workouts.

On the graph, The Y axis has 5 levels (1 at the bottom and 5 at the top), representing the effort a user puts forth in a workout (1 = easiest, 5 = hardest). The X axis shows time in seconds with the graph scrolling from right to left. The middle of the graph will have a vertical line showing the current moment in time. The boxes on the right side of the vertical line represent upcoming changes in speed so any colors used here should be bright and vibrant. The left side of the vertical line shows a history of the seed changes, so colors used here should be faded or opaque.

The vertical bar on the left side of the graph is used to indicate a users heart rate and should incorporate a heart shaped icon.

The messaging box on the right side of the graph is called “Coaches Corner” and this should resemble a live chat-bot box (such as skype or google messaging), where messages will be displayed to the user from trainers and coaches. Examples of phrases would be:
“Great Job, you are half way to the finish, increase your speed by .5 if you can”
“Keep it up!”

Below the graph will be 5 additional buttons with pre-set speeds for the user to make quick changes. To the left of each button should be a human icon that represents Recover, Walk, Jog, Run, Sprint.
Please use the uploaded sample as a guide for the general layout for your design.(note: the design sample only shows 4 additional buttons, 5 are necessary) Be sure to use any colors, shapes, styles, fonts or icons that you want as long as the finished design follows the general layout of this example.

Note: This UI should be 1080 × 1920 (16:9 aspect ratio).

Target Audience

Users of this UI will be people who workout in a gym. They may use this UI a few times per week, but they will never be as familiar with it as other touch devices that they own. This means that the design must be intuitive for all users.

Logo Requirements

Logosauce Standard Final Art Requirements: Vector artwork in Pantone SPOT, CMYK, RGB and BW versions. Files should be saved in Adobe Illustrator .ai or .eps file formats with all strokes converted to objects and fonts pathed/outlined. Other file formats may be acceptable in exceptional circumstances.

Thank you for the entries. I like the dark scheme but wonder if anyone can re-imagine it to a lighter color scheme. Other things I would like to see is reimagining the placement of the message box or the other elements. It does not have to be exactly as the example shows, except the graph inside and that the touch buttons are on the bottom for easy reach.
