The Brief

The Professional Educator Standards Board is a Washington state agency responsible for policy and oversight of our educator preparation and certification system, as well as educator workforce development and diversity.

Our agency fosters a variety of pathways to becoming an educator, and we provide supports and oversight to state educator preparation programs.

Additionally, we are the first state in the country to have a Paraeducator Board, which is currently in the process of creating standards and learning modules so that all Washington paraeducators receive the same high quality job training.

While we are an agency that is often policy-driven, we want our brand to be a reflection of our audience: educators.

Our tagline is “educator quality, workforce, policy innovation.”

We have been working diligently over the last several months to improve our transparency with the public, and cultivate meaningful and valuable relationships with community leaders, stakeholders, and partner organizations.

Our current brand is outdated (especially the font – no more Times New Roman please!).

We want to be seen as innovative and first movers. We recently expanded our color palette and would like the new logo to keep these colors in mind.

b. Secondary colors: RGB – 106.1.54 & RGB – 240.200.8 & RGB – 45.48.71

We conducted a staff survey several months ago asking for feedback about what our staff are looking for in a brand regarding visuals, etc. Many of them liked seeing the Washington state graphic, others were fond of apples, or a “pathways” concept (road leading to an apple).

We defer to the graphic designers expertise to either use these ideas, or create something different.

Target Audience

Our target audiences are vast, due to the often complex variety of work we oversee.

I would say our primary audience is educators, both those looking to become educators, or those looking for professional development opportunities. Second audience would be school district leaders, school organizations, community advocates, educator unions, policy makers, legislative staff, and other education state agencies.

Logo Requirements

Logosauce Standard Final Art Requirements: Vector artwork in Pantone SPOT, CMYK, RGB and BW versions. Files should be saved in Adobe Illustrator .ai or .eps file formats with all strokes converted to objects and fonts pathed/outlined. Other file formats may be acceptable in exceptional circumstances.
