The Virginia High School League is a private, non-profit association that has recently adopted Film Festival as its newest high school state championship. The VHSL Film Festival is a juried competition that encourages participation, supports filmmaking education, and recognizes student achievement in film as an academic program. The League believes that film is both an art form and communication tool that encourages creativity in individuals and crews, and sharpens students’ knowledge of conceptualizing, researching, writing, casting, directing, acting, cinematography, and editing. VHSL Film Festival helps to prepare students for careers in various technology and communications fields including film editing, audio/video engineering, and cinematography by develop students’ skills so that they become adept in both interpreting and making film texts while fostering creativity, researching and formulating ideas eloquently, and exploring the limitless possibilities of human expression through the art of filmmaking.
We’re thinking three colors: black, white and something bright such as fuschia, lime green, cerulean… but we’d consider other attractive color combinations. We’d like the design in black dominant, and reverse white dominant (or similar if attempting other colors). Colors and font names must be provided.
We’d like a film reel, film strip, camera or other identifiable film element to be incorporated (or suggested) in the design.
The words VHSL Film Festival should be part of the design (feel free to play with capitalization and/or lower case, font), and any image should be able to also stand alone and be recognized (think the McDonald’s golden arches, the Arby’s hat, the Olympic rings, the Target bullseye, etc.).
The logo should be contemporary and have an industry “feel” even though this is a high school competition.
This logo will be used on websites, promotional materials, banners, stationery, t-shirts, posters, etc.
This is our first time using Logosauce, and we’re excited about the possibilities. Favorable design may lead to additional logo design competitions for other VHSL projects.
Target audience is the general public, but specifically high school students, educators and parents of high school aged students. A secondary audience is the filmmaking community at large.
Logosauce Standard Final Art Requirements: Vector artwork in Pantone SPOT, CMYK, RGB and BW versions. Files should be saved in Adobe Illustrator .ai or .eps file formats with all strokes converted to objects and fonts pathed/outlined. Other file formats may be acceptable in exceptional circumstances.
