The Brief

BrandKitBuilder is a new online service and brand from the makers of Logosauce.

It’s “The easiest way for Designers to create and deliver a complete digital brand kit.”

It’s designed for Designers (like you).

BrandKitBuilder™ makes it easier than ever before, for Designers to take their original design files, write brand guidelines and deliver an online or digital brand kit.

BrandKitBuilder™ is an online service that any Designer can use to easily build a brand kit. There is no software to install. The designer can login and create one or many digital brand kits, that include brand guidelines and downloadable final logo and identity art files, all for free.

Even if the designer has limited or zero experience, in writing brand guidelines, they can now create professional guidelines and provide a simple but vital service for the client. The system includes pre-written generic brand guidelines that designers can adapt and modify, tips, advice and resources.

Once the brand kit is complete and the client has approved the content, the brand kit can either be hosted or embedded in an existing website, for low annual fee, which either the client can pay or the designer can pay and mark-up to their client. The designer also should be able to bill for the time (with the clients agreement) taken to build the brand kit.

Benefits for the designer include:

  • Opportunity for more work post the logo design competition
  • Look more professional
  • Ability to offer the client a valuable resource that supports their brand and makes them also look more professional
  • Creating an ongoing revenue stream and connection with the client
  • Learning how to create brand guidelines by using the app
  • Access to free brand kit building resources

We’re looking for a logo that captures the spirit of building a brand or brand kit from scratch. From the logo design up. We also want a look that helps the user/client understand that they use BrandKitBuilder to build their brand kit. We want it to feel like they are creating, colouring in the content with their own ideas, their own designs, their own brand.

You can see this in our interim branding approach – a skeletal, line-art (no fill) look.

The logo will be used in various formats, landscape, portrait and a square avatar (for social networks) – so you should think about how the logo renders in these different formats, sizes and resolutions. So think about an icon and logo-text with icon.

BrandKitBuilder is a single word with capital B,K and B or 3 words “Brand Kit Builder” – we haven’t made up our mind yet which we prefer but are leaning towards a single word.

The website address is brandkitbuilder.com

It should also feature the ™ (trademark) symbol.

A Designers challenge

You’re designing for designers. Here’s you chance to really shine. We’re not offering a fortune in prize money but there will be a certain amount of Kudos attached to this comp. Should we select your design to use, you’re design will be appearing in front of hundreds (we hope thousands) of other designers, on a daily basis, for a long time to come.

Good luck.

Target Audience

Professional, Freelance Graphic Designers and Design Firms primarily.
Brand Agencies and Brand Specialist secondly.

Logo Requirements

Logosauce Standard Final Art Requirements: Vector artwork in Pantone SPOT, CMYK, RGB and BW versions. Files should be saved in Adobe Illustrator .ai or .eps file formats with all strokes converted to objects and fonts pathed/outlined. Other file formats may be acceptable in exceptional circumstances.

We’re thinking that we’d like to emphasise the “Kit” idea. i.e. a brand kit is a tool box of resources that client use to implement their brand.
In our own design we’ve used the idea of a model kit. A series of components that can be used to make the whole.

Nobody has yet grasped the blueprint/empty template feel of the product. If you haven’t yet visited the site do so and take note of the general feel of the graphics including the blueprint image.

We also have developed a logo internally already.

It’s good but we’re still looking for something else/a certain x-factor and are interested in what Logosauce designers can come up with.

Emily from our team will upload these shortly.

Note: There will definitely be a winner selected from the entries. You can be sure we will not choose any of our own designs (as per Logosauce Rules) – we should know – we wrote them ( e-see owns both BrandKitBuilder and Logosauce)

BrandKitBuilder:

@Christina – as per my comment above.

Note we have not yet released the product and are still developing it. The current branding is interim. We may use it or develop it or use the winning design from this competition. We have not yet made that decision.

Whichever way we go we WILL select a winner and award prize-money ANF it will NOT be to ourselves.

I think that @oaulo entry seems to be similar to that of Wouter’s winning design for BicKen plating: http://www.logosauce.com/logos/110395
Not that I am saying he copied but one of those situations I guess.

Thank you all for your entries. Many of the entries are great icons. However we believe Paulo captured our thinking best and we believe this is the best choice for the brand.

Once again thank you for your efforts. We hope you check out BrandKitBuilder. We hope to release very soon.
