The Minnesota State Law Library is looking for two versions of a new logo. These new designs will be used on our web site, on social networking venues, as well as on stationery and printed publications.
The Minnesota State Law Library is the oldest continuing library in the state of Minnesota and also one of the state’s oldest institutions. We are one of state’s principal legal resource centers serving the judiciary and all branches of state and local government; the legal profession; other law, public and academic libraries; and the general public. Our mission is to provide vital, timely and efficient library services to the judiciary and the public seeking legal information.
We are open to logo designs that reflect what our organization is about and what we do, and we welcome ideas that are radically different from our existing logos. Words/Ideas to keep in mind are collaboration, outreach, legal resources, technology, and access to justice.
We have identified the access to justice through the access to legal resources as a prominent factor in our identity and wish to have the logo express this quality.
The values the Minnesota State Law Library represents are:
- professionalism and strength,
- means of accessing justice through knowledge
- but also friendliness, warmth, and the readiness to help all members of the public access legal information.
In our complex and information-rich society, legal information is the crucible in which the quality of justice is forged.
Consider creating logos composed entirely of text (Minnesota State Law Library). Images are a possibility, both abstract design and figurative art. Please, if books or the Scales of Justice are used, make it an inventive use that suggests 21st century library identities, which also include online/dynamic sources.
We are looking for two similar and related versions of the logo: one that can be used as a web banner/letterhead, one that can be used as an icon and profile image. The designs should be clean and modern with legible text.
The logo should include our full name: The Minnesota State Law Library.
-The smaller square logo should include the acronym MSLL-. Both must be scalable to accommodate the wide variety of venues in which we will be using them.
We look forward to seeing your designs and please accept our thanks in advance of your submissions. Please feel free to post your comments and questions, and we will answer as soon as we can.
See Logosauce for the rules and regulations of the contest.
All Minnesota State Law Library patrons.
