A few ideas to try and convey in the logo.
- one to one relationship
- rising someone up to a #1 position
- making one stand out

Do you have a kind of image in mind? And what about colors?

2013-08-19 17:52:04 UTC
JeffA

JeffA:

i don’t have an image. I have done a bunch of these on 99 Designs and every time someone has captured an idea far better then I would have come up with.

As for colors, I would keep a balance of noticeable and conservative as we are targeting doctors, lawyers, professionals.

Hilton:

can you be specific on the colour[s] required, which are conservative colours in your country?

JeffA

JeffA:

I would say medium to darker, richer colors. No pastels.

can you shortlist some entries now so we can see what you like and what we are up against?

So here are some other ideas and directions.

The website is crap, but it was an open area I could post the pics.

One other idea I think would be cool is a Map Pointer.

There are a lot of great 1 dimensional logos. I would like to see some concepts with a little dimension to them around the map marker concept. Keeping it simple, but adding a little dimension.

Jack Howarth:

sorry Jeff but i am not sure what you mean on your website where they meant to be logos or what? also I will try and make on with some depth in it and it will soon be posted

WouterZ - Dutch Designs:

Jack, Jeff is giving us pointers to what he might like to see in a design. I guess that the images on his site are just bitmaps placed together to convey his idea to us. It’s up to us to use creativity and skill to put those things into a logo, or to come up with a new idea and present that to Jeff so he also gets designs he might like but maybe never expected.

I think there are still plenty of ways to include a marker and possibly map in a simple yet with dimension approach. Looking forward to those type of tweaks and the real possibility that someone is going to blow my mind with a logo that just pops. Some are close.

JeffA:

I like the dimension on the 1 (blue) and 3 (orange)
http://dribbble.com/shots/973117-Map-Markers-PSD

Also would like VERY SIMPLE map suggestion under it if possible.

JeffA

JeffA:

I think the best designs are the map marker that is strong and a muted map, city, below (grays).
I think ONE color matching the marker is good.
There is still plenty of room for improving what we have so far.

Jeffa, many people have entered this comp and have to say most of us have lost track of the initial brief

JeffA:

Had a buddy recommend doing a twist on this http://graphicriver.net/item/local-agent-logo/1561645?WT.ac=search_item&WT.seg_1=search_item&WT.z_author=getstronghold

maybe with a raised arm that goes out of the top with the hand gesturing #1.

A thought for those still looking to get in this.

JeffA:

mWENEMUTAPa,
The focus is on being #1 or the one choice on Google local maps.
The target is Doctors, lawyers, professionals.

JeffA:

Still getting in some good ones. Some more feedback from people on our team.

I still think you could accent that map flag (pin) icon with a crown or sunrays to maybe tell the #1 story a little better.

JeffA:

Other Map Pin idea.

JeffA

JeffA:

The best rated have been the Map Marker on a very simple muted map. The marker should stand out and show that it is different and above the rest.

This style is probably going to win this comp.

There are a lot of ways to show a Map Marker as the best, like a crown, styling, and other treatments.

Good Luck, We still feel that the winning logo is not in, there are some close ones but not complete.

Oh my god, what have I done wrong? More than 30 versions and almost all requested by JeffA. I’m really dissapointed. Congrats to the winner, this time I’m a totally loser and I feel a bit like a child who has been deceived.

JeffA:

Paco,
It was a very close competition. On many levels I liked yours the best. When we put it up to a team vote, your ended up a very close second.
No deception! I appreciate your work on it, but at the end of the day the team picked the other logo.
I am sure you will have many wins to come.
Jeff
