The Brief

It’s a fair for solo artists in Istanbul, Turkey. Each artist will have his own space to present his work. They all will have a great opportunity to meet with young art lovers, gallery owners and etc. and to sell their work. The fair will be much more affordable compared to other fairs in Turkey. Mamut means mammoth in Turkish. The animal. Earthy color tones are preferred.
Some logos I like: (although these include more text, if you could try to have an image looking like a mammoth that would be great, a shape that I could use without the title may be)

I like the simplicity in number 107870 however I prefer earthy colors and I think the shape looks too much like a ram instead of a mammoth.

NUmber 107871 looks too childish for me.

serennko:

Designers should think primitive, cave; people should be able to remember the shape of the logo even without the text.

Guys, please try more earthy, neutral colors, also if you could try fonts that don’t look so digital that would be great
please look at the logo examples I gave to understand my general taste in logos

I’m all for not so digital look, but then again, to me examples you gave all looked rather digital. So I’m a bit confused here.

serennko:

My digital comment was mostly for fonts. Unfortunately, unless really well done, non-digital looking logos have the tendency to look childish.
The logo examples I’m giving are mostly for letting the designers know that I like it when the logo speaks for itself. It’s not only about what the word means but also the concept of the company. If the designers could integrate arts in the logo that would be interesting to see.
Mammoth in this case represents one of the things that was first drawn by humans. Since this fair is for upcoming and mostly young artists.
If you can show this in a primitive way thats great but if not I prefer the mammoth to look cute and appealing.
Also, I like seeing an actual mammoth shape, like what Santi did.
Here are some more logos that I like. From these you can see what kind of lines, illustrations and etc. I like.

Been conversing with the client. Just to clarify folks.

1. The “other” comp is also for a business card.
2. @serennko is concerned that at Logosauce she/he can’t get her money back if she/he can’t get a logo she/he likes. At the other site she/he can do that – so offered only $200 here. At Logosauce that’s not possible.
3. The contests are NOT running in parrallel. The “other” contest closed last week (according to @serennko, so designers cannot enter there anymore.

So come on guys – lets keep going on this comp. There are some great logos already. It’s just getting interesting.

Thank you Digger for explaining the situation. I really am happy that everything is clear now. Thanks everyone for understanding.
I am sorry if I offended any of you in any way.
Can’t wait to see your new designs!

serennko

serennko:

if any one wants to try a new design in the last hours here are a few things that could help:

  • the mammoth represents the art so it could be characterized as a painting or an object and not as a painter
  • earthy and neutral colors are preferred
  • cute mammoth shapes are preferred
  • try to merge arts and the mammoth in a subtle way

I’ve shortlisted the ones closer to my taste and the ones I think best represent what the title is about.
Thanks everyone!

Logospill

Logospill:

That’s a really short list,….. taking into account that we can’t see 2 of the 3 designs you like…, will see if we get closer to your personal taste this time..

2012-10-08 21:38:59 UTC
Digger

Digger:

@serennko It’s worth pointing out – that some designers make their entries Private so that only you and he/she can view. @Logospill is correct in saying that only one of three is viewable by other designers. You may not have been aware of this.
